SĂ€fstaholm Castle, take us to Trolle-Bonde!

Tags: , , |

Friday feeling and a drive inland to SĂ€fstaholm Castle in VingĂ„ker (otherwise known for it’s factory outlet). We were shown around the castle, initially built in 1666, and got intrigued by stories of Trolle-Bonde, who resided here back in the 1800’s.

The castle is mid-renovation and they plan on re-opening to the public in 2019. We look forward to admiring the lovely ceilings again, seeing Trolle-Bonde’s art collection and hearing more about what went down here over the years – perhaps with an audio guide in place 😉

Visit SÀfstaholm Castle on Facebook.

Workshop: Collecting Social Photo

Tags: , , , |

We joined a two-day workshop by Collecting Social Photo hosted by Nordiska museet, about –as the name suggests- collecting social digital photographs, from the perspective of a museum.

  • How do we get a wide and accurate representation of social media photography into the museum archives?
  • What role do museums have in collecting social photos?

The mix of participants; museum professionals, researchers and us (tech providers), from Sweden, Finland, England and Australia was very enjoyable. We split into groups and presented new and exciting ideas, keeping the GDPR regulations and Instagram’s restrictive API in the back of our minds

What to say and how to say it?

Tags: , , , |

What story do you want to tell and who do you want to reach? What defines a good speaker? How to market a guide once it’s finished?

A fruitful seminar about content today, exchanging ideas and experiences with JÀrfÀlla kommun, Solna stad and Stockholms lÀns museum.

This question was our point of departure, found in the Europeana Impact Playbook:

In an age in which we are overloaded with information but craving for meaning, how do we engage and activate people (with culture)?

From Eskilstuna with love

Tags: , , |

Took a trip to Eskilstuna today for a conference on digitilisation in the culture sector, hosted by STUA. Lots of friendly people around, like Åsa, who showed us her place of work, Stadsmuseet. Did you know the first steam engine (in Sweden) was made in Eskilstuna? It goes by the name of Förstingen.

It all comes together…

Tags: , |

Making an audio guide has many components to it, from the nitty-gritty techy side of things, to the human beings and the stories they want to tell about a specific place or object.

Who we meet with and talk to has truly shaped OnSpotStory. That’s why in 2018 we decided to start a bitesize vlog/blog, introducing the people we meet and the places we’ve been. For us to remember and to share with you how it all comes together.
